Q : | While I"m aware that laser printers are ideal for printing film positives, I"ve read they are achievable from Inkjet printers with some adjustments. I own an HP (wideformat) Designjet 70. Do I need to purchase rip software or would converting images to halftones in Photoshop be sufficient? What kind of vellum or film would be preferable and do I need to use a certain type of ink? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
A : | Converting photoshop to halftones works, or you can get Ghostscript & Ghostview for free and output halftones, trapping or whatever else. Do an online search for tutorials on using Ghostscript. I have an HP 9800 that I output film to. Works great. My best results have come using Chromopaque waterproof film from Screener"s Choice. Nice dense blacks. |
